White Star Quarry (Sandusky Park, OH)

DIRECTIONS

Take the I-76/PENNSYLVANIA TURNPIKE towards OH, Pa Turnpike Exit 6 ( Fremont 92 Mile Marker) Ohio Route 53 South to Route 6 (2 1/2 Miles). Route 6 Through Helena to Route 25 (pass I75) Route 25 for 1 mile. South Past John Deer Plant. entrance in on Right.  follow route 25 north past Portage Quarry for a couple of miles to Route 6. Take a right on route 6 and head east for about 5 minutes until you come to State Route 300 north. Take a right on State Rt 300 north and travel 2 miles to Quarry entrance. DESCRIPTION

White Star Quarry includes 15 acres of water and is located 1/2 mile south of Gibsonburg on State Route 300. The park telephone number is (419) 334-4495. White Star Park includes a beach with swimming area, playground, freshwater well, small boat launch, several fishing platforms, and of course easy accessibility for the diver. Only a few picnic tables separate the water from the diver parking lot. Air fills and equipment rental are available onsite. There is also a snack bar and changing rooms. $6.00

White Star Quarry is located about 1 hour and 45 minutes north of Columbus. Great visibility and warmer waters (you’ll still need a coldwater suit). The park is run by Sandusky County Parks and Recreation dept. There is an underwater structure with a tunnel that you used to be able to swim through, but now the parks department will not allow divers in there (they actually watch the bubbles!)

FACILITIES: 

There are changing facilities and porta potties at the dive site entries. There is a primitive campground. ($7.00/campsite per night admission charge) Camping fees are in addition to dive fees and must be handled by the individual.

Sat. & Sun. 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM?

For weekday air fills, call or come to the house.
Saturday night dives thru end of September.
